about me
Rose Sutton is a Syrian-Jewish filmmaker based in Brooklyn, NY, specializing in directing, editing, and photography. A recent graduate of NYU Tisch’s Film & Television program as a Tisch Scholarship recipient, her work explores emotional complexity, identity, and the interplay between personal history and artistic expression.
Born in Los Angeles and raised across shifting homes after her parents' divorce, Rose developed a deep appreciation for storytelling that embraces nuance, abstraction, and collaboration. Her style leans into bold visual experimentation, often merging music, movement, and layered imagery to evoke feelings that resist traditional narrative.
At NYU, she created Color My Grey Street and her senior thesis The Music Coma, now in post-production and being developed into a feature. Her films have screened at festivals including the Big Apple Film Festival and NYU’s First Run Film Festival among others, where she received awards for screenwriting, performance, and sound design. She was also awarded grants from the NYU Clive Davis Institute and the Lancer Family Foundation for excellence in music and film.
As a photographer, Rose has shot for several dance companies throughout New York City, and has done BTS for over 40+ film sets. Her personal work can be described as sensual and intimate, frequently experimenting between the world of analog and digital.
Outside of filmmaking, Rose is a movement artist and poet. She’s currently working on a poetry book and can often be found exploring the city or conversing over her favorite music.
